AIARD's Vice President Announcing Virtual AIARD Week 2021 Theme and Schedule As our climate continues to change, any number of crises may affect our food systems. Shifts in weather patterns and increases in extreme weather events, ongoing disease outbreaks in humans and the foods on which we rely, and shifts in global migration as a result of these various changes all play a role in food access and equity. Addressing these challenges were among the top suggestions by AIARD members for this years’ Virtual AIARD Week theme. Each suggestion carried the weight of our most salient issues we are facing as global professionals, with the underlying question of how can we ensure that our food systems are resilient in the face of these various crises? To answer this question and more, the AIARD Board is proud to announce the theme for this Virtual AIARD Week 2021 (June 7-10): Cultivating Crisis-Proof Food Systems for a Changing Climate. In an effort to address member interests in bringing all of us together in a novel way, we will have many interactive events throughout the week so you may log on as your time allows. See the tentative schedule online, with registration information coming soon. If you would like to present your work or lead a discussion session, please use this form to submit your proposal by May 7, or contact Ariel Rivers (arielrivers [@] yahoo.com). We look forward to seeing you soon!
