Speakers and Panelists

David Bathrick is a broad-gauged, economic development professional with experience in USAID (23 years) plus profit and not-for-profit companies and as independent consultant (15 years) in 20 plus Latin America and Asia countries (twice as Chief of Party). Key tasks he has performed include: 1) research and analysis for strategic, program, and project planning and design; 2) program and project evaluations and monitoring systems; and 3) program management and implementation. Over last 15 years, Mr. Bathrick has focused increasingly on facilitating trade and market-led growth via complementary macro-economic and rural sector strategic, programmatic and project interventions facilitating sustainable and robust growth via small and medium-sized producers and enterprises.

Has interacted extensively with senior officials of USAID and with ministers and presidents. Mr Bathrick also maintains extensive ties to staff of USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, multi-lateral donors, consulting firms, PVOs and NGOs, and U.S. and international universities. He has written cutting-edge reports and presented advocacy papers demonstrating unprecedented opportunities for robust, broad-based growth via rural-sector structural reforms. Mr. Bathrick was commissioned Minister Counselor in the U.S. Senior Foreign Service. He is a past president of the Association for International Agriculture and Rural Development (AIARD), is fluent in Spanish and speaks basic Vietnamese and Thai. David Bathrick has earned an M.S. degree in International Agricultural Development (Cornell University), an M.A. degree in Political Science/Latin American Studies (Arizona State University), and a B.A. degree in Political Science (Washington State University).
