Dr. Nata Duvvury leads ICRW's work on issues of violence against women and gender and peace-building, overseeing the dissemination of research findings and development of policy advocacy. Dr. Duvvury is an economist with particular expertise in macroeconomics, violence against women, regional trade and social welfare.
While at ICRW, she spearheaded an extensive five-year study on domestic violence in India. Prior to ICRW, Dr. Duvvury taught a course in Kerala, India, on women, population and development with Dr. Gita Sen. In another course on economic change and structural growth, she worked with Leela Gulati. She also conducted a study on women's employment in India for the International Labor Organization and taught macroeconomics, microeconomics and development economics at Nagarjuna University in India. She is fluent in several Indian languages. Dr. Duvvury holds a Ph.D. in economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University in India, and an M.A. in economics from the University of Alberta.
