Events Committee

Members: Susan Karimiha, Sarah Eissler, Russ Webster
Purpose:
The Events Committee develops the concept, prepares and executes the annual meeting of the Association. Additionally, the Committee will plan multiple events throughout the year, which may include professional development and networking events, webinars, workshops, or other events relevant to the membership.
The Committee will also seek out collaborations with the Education and Advocacy and Future Leaders Forum (FLF) Committees to further their objectives. For example, coordinating a webinar about the FLF program prior to the program application deadline.

Meetings are held bi-Monthly, or on an as-needed basis in anticipation of events. Committee members will attend meetings, and help plan events, not limited to:

- Provide an engaging and well organized conference experience for the membership
- Plan multiple technical training and professional development opportunities for members throughout the year
- Connect policy makers, donors and institutions at various events, and provide thoughtful discussion to further work related to agriculture and rural development
- Encourage diverse engagement at events, by partnering with other organizations and conducting strategic outreach to increase the engagement of participants
Committee Meetings and Time Commitment of Committee Members:

- Suggesting event types (e.g., webinars, networking, professional development, etc.)
- Helping to recruit and select speakers and participants for events
- Moderating sessions and facilitating activities via virtual platforms and in-person at the annual meeting on an as-needed basis
- Helping to recruit other AIARD members in support of Committee’s activities
