Ben Hoskins Senior Program Officer World Vision United States
Ben Hoskins is Senior International Programs Manager with World Vision where, since 1992, he has been responsible for assisting World Vision relief and national offices in accessing and utilizing US and international resources, as well as private resources, in relief and development activities. World Vision is the largest private relief and development agency in the world, with funding of over $1 billion, 85% of that in private contributions. Mr. Hoskins is currently responsible for project development and oversight in West Africa, with direct responsibility for Sierra Leone, Liberia, Senegal and Mali. Before coming to World Vision, Mr. Hoskins was a Food for Peace Officer with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) from 1987 to 1991, where he provided oversight for all U.S. food aid programs in South America. During 1985‚1987,
he directed the USAID/Mali Drought Relief effort during the worst drought of the century for that country. In 1984 and 1985, he conducted a study for the AID Office of Disaster Assistance analyzing the extent of the drought in both Mali and Niger, and recommending US actions. Mr. Hoskins also assisted USAID/Malawi in program planning and implementation. From 1982 through 1984, he provided planning and management assistance to the Conseil des Organismes Non-gouvernmentaux au Togo (CONGAT), a federation of 24 national and international NGOs in Togo, West Africa. He advised staff on institutional development and management issues, provided training for staff and members, and assisted with proposal development. Mr. Hoskins began his international work as a Peace Corps volunteer in Buea, Cameroon, from 1966 to 1968 and was Peace Corps Director of Recruitment for Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware from 1970 ‚ 1971. Mr. Hoskins earned a BA in Political Science from Earlham College and a Masterís degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh (GSPIA). He speaks French, Spanish, and Wescos/Pidgin.
