Anicca Jansen has worked in the USAID Office of Microenterprise Development (MD) since the launch of USAID's Microenterprise Initiative in 1994. Dr. Jansen manages MD's Rural and Agriculture Finance training and research activities, backstops West Africa, and provides technical assistance to USAID field missions in the areas of strategy and program development and program evaluation.
She managed the Microenterprise Best Practices project, USAID's 5-year research project supporting learning in the field of microenterprise development, and, currently manages several reseach activities under the Accelerated Microenterprise Assistance Project (AMAP). From 2001 - 2004, she was based in Dakar, Senegal, where she served as USAID's Microenterprise Technical Advisor for West Africa. Prior to joining USAID, Dr. Jansen was an economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service, where she focused on economic development in the rural United States. She has also served as volunteer for the American Refugee Committee in Thailand and Croatia. She has taught microfinance and economic development at the American University in Washington, DC, and the University of Maryland. Dr. Jansen has provided technical assistance throughout Africa as well as in Eastern Europe and Haiti.
