Lauren R. Landis Director, Office of Food for Peace United States Agency for International Development
Lauren Landis has served as the Director, Office of Food for Peace at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) since January 2002. In this capacity she manages $1.5 billion of food commodities that are programmed in over 100 countries worldwide to fulfill Food for Peace's mission of reducing hunger and malnutrition, and assuring that all people at all times have access to sufficient food for a healthy and productive life.
From 1995 to 2001, she served as the Director of Emergency Response and Food Security at Save the Children Federation, Inc., a leading development and humanitarian U.S. Private Voluntary Organization. Prior to this she worked at Interaction, a coalition of U.S. non-profit organizations.
Lauren has previously worked at USAID as Emergency Operations Coordinator in Somalia and as a Disaster Operations Specialist in Washington, D.C.
An alumna of Mount Holyoke College, where she majored in International Relations, Lauren is a Term Member of the Council of Foreign Relations. She lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and four year old daughter.
