AIARD Annual Meeting-Lightning Talks
The Planning Committee for the upcoming AIARD Annual Meeting is pleased to invite AIARD Members and others in the international agricultural and rural development community to submit a proposal for the Lightning Talks segment of the program.
2020 Lightning Talk Proposals are being solicited on topics related to the Conference theme: Making Food Safe: Meeting the Global Challenge.
Lightning Talks are fast-paced, highly energetic delivery style talks. Lightning Talks are 5-minute presentations, with exactly 20 PowerPoint slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds. When one presentation ends, the next one begins. Presenters will then facilitate round table discussions with attendees for more in-depth discussion. Presenters will also have an opportunity, if desired, to publish a summary of their discussions in AIARD blog.
The Lightning Talks will take place on June 1, 2020 during the 56th AIARD Annual Conference.
Think creatively as you identify what you would like to submit as a potential Lightning Talk focusing on approaches and initiatives dedicated to improving food safety in global, regional and local food systems, in order to answer one or more of these questions:

Think creatively as you identify what you would like to submit as a potential Lightning Talk focusing on approaches and initiatives dedicated to improving food safety in global, regional and local food systems, in order to answer one or more of these questions:
- What technologies and practices are most effective in reducing food contamination and loss and why?
- What are emerging frontiers in science that hold promise for improving food safety?
- How can we ensure production of and access for all to safe food that is nutritious?
- What is an example of a successful program in reducing loss and contamination in village markets? Or in more complex supply chains connecting rural producers to urban consumers?
