Nitin Madhav Program Development Officer for Afghanistan Bureau for Asia and the Near East, USAID
Nitin Madhav is the Program Development Officer for Afghanistan in the Asia Near East Bureau of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He's had a very long standing interest in Afghanistan and was part of the Agency's immediate response following the events of 9/11, and
was instrumental in printing and distribution of 10.5 million textbooks for the opening of schools after the fall of the Taliban. Currently, Mr. Madhav backstops the $1.15 billion USAID portfolio in Afghanistan. A public health professional by training, Mr. Madhav previously served as a technical advisor to USAID's Child Survival Grants Program with 72 child health programs in 36 countries, and prior to that, he was a coordinator for USAID's largest child survival project, BASICS. He worked with Afghan refugees in camps in Pakistan and Tajikistan in the early 1990s.
