Joy Odom is the Assistant to the Department Head for the Department of Agricultural Economics at Mississippi State University. She holds a B.S. degree in History and Spanish from Mississippi State University as well as an M.A. in History from the same institution.
During her early career, she taught school and then worked for 15 years in the banking industry in New Orleans, LA. Upon returning to her hometown of Starkville, MS, she became business manager for the Center for International Security and Strategic Studies at Mississippi State University. She then moved into the agriculture division of the university and became Assistant Director of the Office of International Programs. She moved to the Department of Agricultural Economics when the Office of International Programs was closed in 2002.
