Christopher Pannkuk is the director for Washington State University's International Programs Research and Development, with lead on projects in Afghanistan, Philippines and a worldwide project on Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resource Management. He has over 20 years experience in agricultural extension and research and international development projects.
Dr. Pannkuk has designed and implemented projects to monitor and alleviate water use and soil degradation, and researched soil and water conservation practices. He has completed assignments for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Danish Committee for Aid to Afghan Refugees (DACAAR), the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service (USDA/ARS), the U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. As an agricultural consultant, he monitors, evaluates, recommends and identifies resources for developing better agricultural strategies. Dr. Pannkuk has published many peer reviewed journal articles on his research and development projects, has validated cropping systems models for water use, and is teaching "World Agricultural Systems" at Washington State University. He has carried out agricultural development activities in Afghanistan, Syria, Romania, Armenia, Jordan, Malawi and others.
