Dr. Price is a member of the Agriculture Program Executive Committee which oversees agricultural research, teaching and extension conducted within the nine universities and eight state agencies of the System. As head of the International Office of the Agriculture Program, he works with System faculty and staff on more that 47 projects in 40 countries with a value of more than $37 million. In the past five years, he has overseen the development of nine new study abroad programs within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the introduction of college-sponsored international internships, and the development of a master's certificate program in international agriculture and natural resource management. Dr. Price currently serves as Vice Chair for the Board of Trustees for the West African Rice Development Association, as Chair of NASULGC's International Agriculture Coordinating Committee, and as a member of the Advisory Board for the Texas-Israel Exchange Program and the Board of Directors for the Armenian Agribusiness Education Fund.
Dr. Price's career in international agricultural development includes employment at advanced levels of leadership in agricultural research management and evaluation, human and institutional resources assessment and planning, agricultural policy, and farm management research. His responsibility for agricultural policy and financial analysis at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System was followed by numerous policy consultancies in other countries. He played a key role in the development of agricultural systems research through 10 years as a senior scientist at the International Rice Research Institute, authoring over 120 articles on the economics of farming systems, and co-authori¬ng a Methodology for Cropping Systems Research. Working with BIFAD, NASULGC and others, Dr. Ed Price has been tireless in his efforts to forge a more productive and efficient partnership between U.S. Land Grants, the U.S. Agency for International Development and the CGIAR System. To this end, Dr. Price successfully drafted a revision of Title XII of the U.S. Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. The bill was passed on the House Floor in July, and on the Senate floor in October. On Thursday, October 12th,2000 the House successfully finished the bill, and formally sent it to President Clinton for signature.
