LTC Jim Ruf (U.S. Army) is Response Development Officer for Department of State's Office of the Coordinator for Reconstruction and Stability (S/CRS). LTC Ruf began his current assignment in S/CRS in July 2005. Ruf was commissioned as an artillery officer through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 1983 and branch transferred to Civil Affairs in 1998. Prior to his current assignment, he spent 22 years in a variety of command and staff assignments, most recently serving as the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Commander in Jalalabad, Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Other key assignments include deputy G3 352 Civil Affairs Command, Combined Joint Task Force 7 C9 operations officer Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Reserve Coordinator for Special Operations Command Joint Forces Command (SOCJFCOM). LTC Ruf received a BA in business marketing from Miami (Ohio) University and a MA in Human Resources Development from Webster University. He is a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College, and will attend the Army War College in 06. LTC Ruf's awards include Bronze Star (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Defense Meritorious Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal (with three Oak Leaf Clusters).
