Dr. Simon Winter is TechnoServe's Senior Vice President of Development. He joined TechnoServe in June 2003 and is responsible for leading and managing TechnoServe's strategy for expanding geographic impact. He is also responsible for ensuring consistency of strategic vision between country, division, and corporate strategies while leading the new business process for public fundraising, corporate strategic partnerships, and individual, foundation and corporate fundraising.
Finally, he oversees management and incubation of new programs, including India country entry, establishing a European presence and capital access for SMEs. Previously he was Vice President and Regional Director for Africa leading a team of 220 people that helps entrepreneurs build rural based businesses that benefit their families and communities through full country operations in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa, Uganda and Swaziland. Operations focus on cashews, horticulture, coffee, dairy and a range of other high value crops. Born in the UK, Dr. Simon holds a PhD in development economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
